Created by Italian fishermen on the wharfs of San Francisco in the 1800s, Cioppino is a rich and hearty tomato-based seafood stew. A Navy veteran, crabber, clam digger, former Alaskafisherman and true man of the sea, Gennaro “Jerry” Mascio of San Gennaro Foods adopted this delicious dish working it into his family’s rotation of seafood favorites every chance he got — oftentimes making Cioppino on special occasions and holidays, including the “Feast of the Seven Fishes.”
